This route is often considered one of the most scenic day trips in Europe, and you will understand why from the very first stop.

Cabo Girão Skywalk — Flying Over the Ocean

We begin at the iconic Cabo Girão Skywalk (589 m), where a glass platform lets you stand above the deep blue Atlantic and the terraces of Fajã do Cabo Girão. It's the perfect moment for stunning photos and a thrilling start to the day.

Serra de Água Valley & Off-Road Adventure

From there we cross the valley of Serra de Água, passing through a 3.1-km tunnel that leads us to São Vicente — but not for long.
We quickly leave the main road and take a beautiful off-road trail through Madeira’s forest and hidden mountain terrain. Expect great views, local stories and the true spirit of adventure.

North Coast — São Vicente & Véu da Noiva

Back on the road, we follow the dramatic north coastline, surrounded by vineyards, waterfalls and towering green cliffs.
We stop at the famous Véu da Noiva, one of Madeira’s postcard-perfect waterfalls, and enjoy a short break for coffee or souvenirs while hearing about the island’s historic coastal roads.

Seixal Black Sand Beach — The “Hawaii of Madeira”

Next, we visit Seixal, a tiny village known for its incredible black-sand beach. Many call it the “Hawaii of Madeira” — a paradise for photos with huge cliffs rising behind the turquoise sea.

Porto Moniz Natural Pools — 2 Hours of Freedom

We then reach Porto Moniz, home to Madeira’s famous volcanic lava pools.
Here, you will have around 2 hours to swim, sunbathe or enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Your guide will recommend the best spots, or you can explore freely at your own pace.

Fanal Forest — A Magical, Ancient Wonderland

After lunch we head into the mysterious Fanal Forest, part of the UNESCO Laurissilva.
Often covered in soft mist, this ancient woodland feels like stepping into a fairytale — peaceful, mystical and perfect for photos. Guests will have quiet time to relax, breathe, and connect with nature.

Ponta do Sol — Ending the Day in Sunshine

To finish our adventure, we drive down the mountains toward the sunny bay of Ponta do Sol, the warmest village in Madeira. A beautiful coastal setting and the perfect way to end the day.

What happens at the tour?

We have the 4x4 jeeps that can seat 3 or 6 people each car at the time and guests with 3 years old and up can join us. If you have a larger group, contact us for a private tour;
Because of the Madeira weather, some roads can be closed for safety, and the route can be changed;
The tour is in English speaking;
Possibly other guests can share the adventure;
On the tour you agree and authorizes that any ﬁlms, photos, sound or other recordings can be used by The Big Adventure fiting in any promotion or advertising, without the prior consent.
